Saturday evening Main Stage Concert celebrating MiM’s 19th season opens witha hair raising duo for flute and hand drum by Payton MacDonald and a new work, 7 Dances, by Brian Raphael Nabors. Musicians featured: Julietta Cureton (flute), Ashley Smith (clarinet), Evan Kahn (cello), and Sohrab Bazargannia (percussion).

Abigail Kaun will narrate a newly abridged text to accompany Stravinsky’s L’Histoire du Soldat, which blends musical genres performed by 7 instrumentalists and spoken word, telling the story of a battle-worn soldier who bargains with the Devil, surrendering his violin for a magical book. Musicians featured: Tien-Hsin Cindy Wu (violin), Omar Lateef (trumpet), Ashley Smith (clarinet), Leah Kohn (bassoon), Nick Platoff (trombone), Sohrab Bazargannia (percussion), and Ethan Moffit (bass).
